Stepless Clamp Pincer Tool

The Stepless Clamp Pincer Tool is designed for installing stepless ear clamps on hose and tubing connections. It provides the controlled crimping force needed to compress the clamp ear and create a secure, low-profile connection around barbed fittings, making it especially useful for assembling brewing hose, transfer lines, and other liquid-handling systems.

When paired with properly sized stepless ear clamps, this tool helps produce a clean, professional hose connection without the protruding screw housing found on traditional worm-drive clamps. The resulting clamp provides even pressure around the tubing and is well suited for permanent or semi-permanent brewing hose assemblies.

Secure Hose Connections

Stepless ear clamps are designed to provide continuous pressure around the circumference of the hose connection. The Stepless Clamp Pincer Tool closes the raised ear of the clamp, reducing its diameter and applying radial force around the tubing and fitting.

This style of connection is particularly useful where a compact profile, even clamping pressure, and a secure grip are preferred over conventional screw-type hose clamps.

Use & Applications

  • Silicone brewing hose assemblies
  • Barbed hose fittings
  • Camlock hose assemblies
  • Quick-disconnect hose assemblies
  • Transfer tubing
  • Brewing and beverage equipment
  • Gas and liquid hose connections where compatible clamps are specified
  • General stepless ear clamp installation

Compatible Clamp Sizing

The Stepless Clamp Pincer Tool is intended for use with compatible single-ear stepless clamps. Clamp size should be selected according to the outside diameter of the hose after the hose has been installed over the fitting or barb.

Do not select a clamp based only on the nominal inside diameter of the hose. Hose wall thickness and the outside diameter of the fitting can significantly change the final assembled diameter.

  • Install the hose fully onto the intended barb or fitting.
  • Measure the outside diameter of the hose at the point where the clamp will be installed.
  • Select a stepless clamp whose specified working diameter or size range includes the measured outside diameter.
  • Avoid using a clamp that is too small, as excessive compression can damage soft silicone tubing.
  • Avoid using a clamp that is too large, as it may not provide sufficient compression when the ear is closed.

For example, two hoses with the same 1/2 inch inside diameter may require different clamp sizes if they have different wall thicknesses or are installed on fittings with different outside diameters. Always measure the completed hose-and-fitting assembly before selecting the clamp.

How to Use

Select a stepless ear clamp that is properly sized for the outside diameter of the tubing when installed over the fitting. Slide the clamp onto the tubing, insert the barbed fitting fully into the hose, and position the clamp over the barbed section of the fitting.

Place the jaws of the Stepless Clamp Pincer Tool squarely over the raised ear of the clamp. Squeeze the handles together until the ear is fully compressed and the clamp is securely seated around the hose. Inspect the connection to verify that the clamp is centered, evenly compressed, and securely gripping the tubing.

Brew Tips

  • Measure the outside diameter of the hose after it has been installed on the fitting before selecting a clamp.
  • Do not choose clamp size based solely on the nominal hose inside diameter.
  • Position the clamp over the barbed portion of the fitting rather than near the end of the hose.
  • Keep the tool jaws centered and square on the clamp ear before applying pressure.
  • Compress the clamp evenly to avoid damaging the clamp or tubing.
  • Do not reuse a stepless ear clamp after it has been removed. Install a new clamp when rebuilding a hose assembly.
  • For silicone brewing hose, avoid selecting a clamp that is excessively small, which can over-compress or damage the tubing.
  • Inspect hose assemblies periodically for wear, cuts, cracking, or loose fittings.
