What It Is
This stainless Gas Transfer Wand lets you rack out of barrels using inert gas instead of a pump, turning your barrel into an ultra low pressure keg for gentle, low oxygen transfers. Inert gas is introduced through the locking collar into the headspace of the barrel, and the resulting pressure pushes wine, beer, cider, or spirits up and out through the racking wand with smooth, controlled flow.
Why Brewers Love It
Because the barrel is pushed with inert gas rather than pulled with a pump, this transfer wand offers one of the least aerative transfer methods available. You can start, slow, or stop the flow at any time using the gas inlet valve, while the empty space in the barrel is continuously backfilled with inert gas instead of air. That means better protection for color, aroma, and flavor, especially in long aged beers, wines, and barrel aged projects where oxygen pickup is the enemy.
Where It Shines
This transfer wand is ideal for home and small scale pro cellars that regularly rack from barrels and need precise control with minimal disturbance to lees. The adjustable locking collar allows you to position the gas inlet anywhere along the wand to fit a wide range of barrel sizes, while the adjustable lees pin at the bottom lets you set exactly how much sediment to leave behind. It excels with barrel aged beers, mixed fermentation projects, wine, cider, and any product where clarity, low oxygen transfer, and gentle handling are priorities.
Build & Key Features
Constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel, the Gas Transfer Wand is built for durability, cleanability, and sanitary use in the cellar. A stainless lock down mechanism makes it easy to adjust and secure height, while the polished stainless tube promotes smooth flow and easy cleaning. The compression silicone bung forms an airtight seal with the barrel head, the adjustable lees pin helps you avoid pulling unwanted sediment, and the 1.5 inch Tri-Clover outlet integrates cleanly with tri-clamp fittings and transfer lines.

Brewer’s Guidance
Set the locking collar so the wand reaches just above the lees, then fine tune with the adjustable lees pin to leave sediment undisturbed. Begin transfers at low gas pressure and slowly increase only as needed for a steady flow. Always use an inert gas such as CO2 or nitrogen, and ensure your destination vessel is purged before connecting. After use, disassemble as needed and clean with standard brewery cleaners followed by sanitizer, paying attention to the ball valve, bung, and Tri-Clover connection to keep the system sanitary batch after batch.
