Briess Pale Ale Malt is a U.S.-grown specialty base malt that’s fully modified, low in protein, and high in extract. It contributes a rich, malty flavor with hints of biscuit and nuts and a warm golden hue.

Where It Shines

A versatile foundation for ales across the board—from British-style bitters to American amber ales, porters, and even richer dark ales. It brings depth and malt character when used fully or partially in the grist.

Role in the Brewhouse

Functions as a dual-purpose base/specialty malt—strong enzyme content supports mash conversion, while its rich maltiness adds flavor, body, and color beyond a standard base malt.

Brewer’s Guidance

Use up to 100% for a richer malt profile in ales; include over 10% in any recipe needing added depth, or 10–15% in high-gravity beers like Bock for additional complexity.
