Briess Bonlander® Munich Malt is a North American-grown 2-row specialty malt kiln-dried in true European style. It offers a smooth, clean, malty-sweet flavor with rich, golden-amber and orange-hued mash and aroma.

Where It Shines

Perfect for adding malt depth and warmth to Altbiers, Oktoberfests, Bocks, and Marzens—or used at lower levels to bring backbone and richness to pale ales and balanced hoppy styles.

Role in the Brewhouse

As both a base and specialty malt, Bonlander® brings sufficient enzymatic strength (≈40° Lintner) to support mash conversion even when used at elevated levels. Its rich maltiness and body make it a go-to for flavor and mouthfeel enhancement.

Brewer’s Guidance

Use 10–20% as a flavor-enhancing specialty in ales and lagers, or push up to ~50% in darker, malt-driven styles like Bocks for deep malt character and robust body.
